Mountain View Ranch and Stables

I'm so happy to be able to board my horse at Mountain View. The barn has been under new ownership for the last 2+ years and it is absolutely beautiful. All arenas are dragged daily and the footing is awesome. Love the indoor arena especially. The facility is beautifully maintained under the care of Luke and Leesa. Also Love our trainer Laura Huff.

I moved my 3 horses to Mtn View 2 weeks ago after having moved them 8 times in the past 4 yrs since moving from Indiana and find this stable awesome. I have 1 stalled, let out daily on large grass pasture for 6 hours, and 2 are out in the large grass pastures that are watered; what a concept. The ranch hands are friendly, the owners Leesa and Luke, are always out and easy to talk to. I love having my horses here, I know that they are well cared for and happy eating in the pastures. The down side, the large pastures are barred wire. I feel that I finally found my forever home.

This is absolutely the best pasture boarding you can find anywhere near Fort Collins! There's green grass well into fall, and once there isn't there is plenty of hay to be found in the feeders. Despite just being a pasture boarder, Luke and Leesa know exactly who I am, who my horse is, and are always very willing to help with accommodations. Everyone at the barn is friendly and considerate - would highly recommend boarding here.

My daughters stated riding lessons about 6 weeks ago with Laura. She is so wonderful and a great teacher! She is patient and kind. She cares about her students and about the horses. We love coming here and getting our "horsey" fix!

I would agree with others here on the unusual management of this facility. It's not my # 1 recommendation in Northern Colorado. There are way better horse facilities then this one that take care of your horse just as well and better. I'm not sure where they came from to think you can charge for every little thing, such as my trainer comes out they charge them? They try to get any dime they can out of this facility, you, and anyone else that steps foot here. The management is also unfriendly. It just doesn't make it a fun place when it has many stipulations.

The horses are well cared for by the staff, the stables are well cared for and clean. I'm very impressed to see all the horses at the Ranch in good condition. As we walked thru the Ranch we noticed the staff addressing the yellow jackets that were trying to be close to the horses, within made me really happy because I have seen other Ranches that the horses were covered in flies around there eyes and on there body. However, at Mountain View Ranch and Stables you can see the love, care, hygiene, and respect that properly given to the horses. 🐎 ♥️ 🐴!!!!!!

Don't let them put you in my vacated stall (first on the left as you enter the barn)! There's a waterline leak they refuse to fix. They say it's urine draining into the corner, but it's actually water draining out and flooding the whole back corner of the stall -- and it's getting worse. I've attached two photos -- one of the stall before I cleaned up the overnight mess and one of the stall less than two hours after I cleaned it. No ammonia smell, so no way it's urine. Also, it's soaking up all the shavings, so your horse's bedding gets too low before it's replenished (down to covering less than half the stall). I've also attached a text message chain to show what the owners are like. Back story (in short): For several reasons, my 32-y-o horse needs free choice hay. Turnout is 7 hours, so she needs hay there, too -- enough to last 7 hours. Had several battles over hay in stall, but usually, she had more than enough, so I took the extra out to turnout, where she never had enough (until I started feeding her). On June 18, I was given an ultimatum with three choices. I chose the one where I stopped taking hay out and they would feed her enough to last 7 hours -- which they said was 1/4 of a flake. That much hay is about 15 minutes' worth, so I made sure that the deal included the following: If there was no hay in turnout when I came out (abut 5 hours into the 7 hours), they would put in more hay without arguing. I added the "without arguing" part because EVERYTHING is an argument with Leesa. She then added an "option 4", which was them kicking me out if I didn't follow orders. So, on the 19th, I came out and there was no hay in Tori's trough. (There was hay on the ground, which had spilled out when I was taking hay out there, and it was trampled, rained on, pooped on, unpalatable hay.) I notified them that there was no hay and promptly got an argument. I reminded them of our agreement and asked them to meet it. They kicked me out, in essence because THEY didn't meet the agreement. Other reviews have also noted how unpleasant interactions with them can be, but I wanted to include the texts to show exactly what it's like. The facilities at Mt. View are good, and basic management is also good. If you need more than the basics, though (like getting a water leak fixed), you're going to have a problem. Nobody else's opinion will even be heard, no matter how wrong their own opinion might be. It's not rocket science that - If it doesn't smell like ammonia, it's not horse urine - A quarter of a flake of hay won't last a horse for 7 hours - If the stall cleaners take out all the leftover hay, the horse won't have free choice hay no matter how much you feed her Common sense doesn't matter, and you might as well talk to a wall. It would be less unpleasant. I do NOT recommend this facility, regardless of how nice it may look. Management matters, and managers who won't listen are poor managers.
