New Vocations Racehorse Adoption Program

New Vocations has been the most thorough and awesome group that we have worked with to date. We started a nonprofit a year and a half ago, and we take in OTTBs to assist the growth and development of our athletes in our volleyball club. We have had huge success in changing team chemistry. The horses we have adopted are so well mannered such great citizens, a testament to NV trainers and their willingness and dedication to ensure that they are setting up these horses for success in their next chapter. Thank you to everyone who has donated money, time and anything else to ensure that this organization continues to help these horses.

Adopted my 9yo mare from New Vocations in OH, she is a healthy, beautiful horse from quality lineage. Application process does take some time, there is a lot of paperwork online with the provision of Barn area and vet background information. After a month of waiting for approval and referencing background checks, I was able to schedule transport for my beautiful mare. Highly recommend adopting from here.

I contacted the business by phone, email and left multiple voicemails on a horse I was interested in ( even after I was an approved adopter). I couldn’t receive a call back when the operations manager told me I would be expecting a call back days ago. Followed up again by email, and she told me to reach back out, which I have done multiple times. The horse I was interested in is now pending. Unfortunately I will definitely be taking my business elsewhere in the foreseeable future. Can’t reach anyone at the Lexington Facility!

Put in an application on a horse, paid money, had pre approval, and still withholding why the horse is a "pasture potato" as in to just be companion. Asked multiple times and they would not provide any more info, very secretive like they are hiding something. Seems very unfair and intentionally withholding info on horse. All you ask for is daily needs, longevity of life and it couldn’t be provided. Had a great home ready for a horse and now no longer interested due to lack of honesty is what it seems to be.

I just adopted my boy today. I couldn’t be happier with this program. They have the best interest of the horse in mind, and I look forward to sharing his progress with them.

We had a wonderful tour of the facility. Our tour guide was friendly, knowledgeable and engaging. We enjoyed hearing about how it all began and meeting the horses. Highly recommend this tour!

This facility is a must see when in Lexington. We took a private tour with Carey who had a wealth of knowledge and passion for these OTTB horses. You have the opportunity to get close and touch these magnificent horses that are receiving a second opportunity after their racing career has ended. Highly recommend touring this facility!
