The Tack Shop of Lexington

Knowledgeable, friendly staff quickly helped me find exactly what I needed. They have a beautiful selection of quality items. When they didn’t have the size boots I needed, they referred me to a store in the area that did. Customer service is definitely a strong point for this store and I can’t wait to visit again when we are in the area. Thanks, Kate and Carolyn, for a wonderful and enjoyable shopping experience!

I went in with little idea of what I was looking for, as I'm transferring from Western to English. But the lady there was so helpful and explained to me how certain gear items worked, and showed me how to put on half chaps. I'm also a plus sized lady (5'8 and roughly 250lbs) but I was able to find shoes, half chaps, helmet and riding tights that fit! I left the store with more confidence I came in there with! And now I'm ready for my English riding journey thanks to this shop!!

While competing at the KHP various time (from out of town), we have been lucky enough to win very generous prizes, including a gift card from the Tack Shop of Lexington. Stopping in, the staff was incredibly helpful and the staff went even further above and beyond with a custom order I placed later. Many options here, great people - thank you for the generous support to our sport!

I love how the lady at the store helped me pick out two bits bc I wasn’t sure which one my trainer was talking about and we discussed me returning the one I didn’t use and she NEVER told me that bits aren’t RETURNABLE and it’s the store policy! I would have appreciated her informing me that if I want to buy them both that’s fine but that I couldn’t return it. Especially when I told her the plan was the return one. I never even took it out of the bag. I got it this weekend and had the receipt, drove from 50 minutes away just to return it and they still wouldn’t accept the return when their own associate helped me and didn’t inform me! She fully made me believe I could return it! Bad customer service and I’m there spending thousands regularly but I’ll be looking for my tack elsewhere now!

Good selection in a very small space. Tack and clothing essentials as well as gift and decor items. Staff was present but seemed less than enthusiastic about the job, but still helpful.

Jan 11, 2024 I would be very careful buying from this vendor. They sold me a HKM vest, did not say HKM battery was "not included" and instead a large bulky white one off amazon, heavy and not sleek. Totally not what I was expecting,....you expect what is advertised online which would have been the HKM battery to go with the HKM vest. The owner of the shop said that she didn't say the "HKM battery was included" so I shouldn't expect that battery. I think its very clear that you buy an HKM vest and you expect the battery that goes with it! She said I could return for credit of exchange but obviously I do not want anything from a store that is ok with false advertising and poor customer service. So have to open a dispute with AMEX since the vest was not as described. Overall very poor customer service, rude and not selling items as expected. I would not buy a single thing from this store, especially if you can't return it even if it wasn't described on their website accurately.

I had the most unpleasant experience with the owner of this shop yesterday. I’m new to the equestrian world. My daughter needed a new helmet as she’d outgrown hers. I found the one I wanted and searched for a place that wasn’t sold out. I found it at this place and ordered. I received it and it was too small for her. I called to ask about exchanging it and was given the policy on returns. I get the safety reasons. What I don’t get is why that information is buried on the product page. It’s way below the size selection, add to cart button, and under the description. Then once you go to check out, it’s not listed anywhere that it’s final sale. I knew the item I wanted because I’d found it on a different website. I didn’t scroll down to read through the product description. Rather than acknowledge that this information is too low down on the page and nowhere on the checkout page so it could clearly be missed, she suggested I was hard of understanding and then ultimately hung up on me. I get the safety, I don’t get acknowledging the policy needs to be clearer. I shop online a lot. To avoid frustrated customers, stores that care about customers post the final sale mention in every place possible. Oh and they don’t hang up on customers when they’re bothered by the lack of acknowledgment of a buried policy. But after reading Yelp reviews with similar frustrations I know this is common practice for this store owner. I’m sure it’s obvious I’ll shop elsewhere. You should too. That’s the only way she’ll learn to more prominently feature a policy.
