River Road Horse Farm Plus

Cozy barn and facility in Hinckley! Alex is the attentive and friendly owner of the farm. His animals are happy and well cared for and have acres of land to roam. I ride with Gretchen Bender and she is a great trainer who cares about both the riders’ and horses’ wellbeing and safety. This farm makes me feel at home and I love to bond with the animals. There are two riding arenas, an outdoor and an indoor, that are spacious and pleasant to ride in. Chickens, guinea foul, bunnies, goats, sheep, cats, and obviously horses call this place home and very much enjoy it! Horses have close to 24/7 turnout in the gorgeous pastures and paddocks that overlook the pond. Thank you everyone for making me feel so welcome here!!

If I could spend all day at this barn I would. It’s so beautiful and you can tell the horses are happy and well cared for. They have a nice sized indoor arena for the cold and rainy days as well as an outdoor arena. I’ve been training with Gretchen for a while now. I’m so grateful to have found her and this barn. My riding has come a long way since I started. Would recommend River Road to anyone.

Amazing place, beautiful horses, the tour of the stables and riding facilities, great picnic pavilion. We had a picnic there and everyone loved it. Children were able to ride a pony under the supervision of an instructor . Adults were also able to ride horses. There are 2 instructors that give lessons throughout the year because they have an inside riding as well as jumping building which is also used for exhibitions. Highly recommend this place for events or if you’d like to learn and take riding lessons. If I were younger and not 73 then I’d take lessons myself.

We rented the house and pavilion for a weekend and everything was perfect — clean rooms, well-maintained property, and peaceful atmosphere surrounded by nature. The horses are beautiful, the farm is safe and family-friendly. Great location for events, picnics, or just relaxing getaway. The owners are kind and very professional. Highly recommend this clean and beautiful farm for anyone visiting the area!

Lisa is such a wonderful barn manager and makes sure everyone is cared for. The horses are treated like her own and she is incredibly accommodating to each horses needs. Horses have many acres to roam, stalls are cleaned twice a day, and they always have hay! Three arenas, two indoor and one outdoor and have sand mixed footing which is perfect for my navicular horse. I love this place and Lisa + staff rock!!

A lovely slice of heaven. So peaceful. Beautiful. The animals are all loved and well cared for. A great place to board and be a part of the team.
