Longshot Stables LLC

I got a super green horse as a super green rider several years ago. Heidi was honest with me from the beginning about what I needed to do to personally and for my horse, and we both immediately went into training with her. I have always felt safe as Heidi continues to challenge me to become a better rider. My horse is now a beginner lesson horse as well as perfect for my intermediate abilities. I owe it to Heidi’s teaching and the family atmosphere she creates for the boarders where we are always helping each other. This farm is fantastic for riders of many levels, people looking to board, and the family members of those "horse people" who are just along for the ride!

I started bringing my youngest daughter here for lessons almost 6 years ago. I found the focus on good all-around horsemanship in an unpretentious atmosphere to be a perfect fit for our family. My daughter has continued to progress in her riding skills and also really enjoys the social side to this friendly stable. I also board my own horse here, and I am very happy with the attention to individual conditioning and equine mental health. Heidi presents riders of all levels with opportunities to learn, play and compete both on and off the farm. No pressure…. No judgement…. Just practical and consistent support.

Our family’s connection to Longshot Stables (Heidi and Emerson Douts) started when we purchased a wonderful pony from them that Heidi had trained. We had such a positive purchase experience that my daughters started taking lessons with Heidi and ultimately we began boarding our horse as well! Heidi creates a supportive, creative and enriching environment for her students and the equines. Heidi is a gifted teacher who is always curious and adapts her style to the learning needs of her students, who consist of all ages and multiple disciplines. We are looking forward to many years of learning and growing with our horses at Longshot!

I’ve been riding for 30 years. I brought my ottb to Longshot over the summer and it was the best thing for both of us. He’s gained weight and come off of all his extra supplements. Our regular lessons with Heidi have given us both confidence and direction. We are setting short term and long term goals and building a wonderful foundation to support a long and successful career. The barn atmosphere is friendly and organized. The horses are so well cared for. As is the property. Riders of all levels can really learn and grow at Longshot.

I recently found myself in the market for another horse, and I wound up with a 2-year-old thoroughbred. She is lovely, but I’ve never had a horse this young. Heidi has been amazing in helping us train her; she has been very patient with my girl and her sometimes naughty baby behavior. I’m really excited to see how far we will go in the next few years!

Great lessons and Heidi is fantastic. Talks and teaches my 9 year old like she is an adult but very kind and patient. She is receiving great instruction. Very laid back feel but excellent training. Highly recommend!

I have personally taken lessons from Heidi and currently board my horse at her stable. Longshot Stables offers quality and affordable horseback riding lessons and horse boarding. The owner is attentive and helpful. She is available for problem solving and training as needed. She feeds quality feed, hay grown on the farm, and will feed any supplements and specialty feed as provided. The pastures are large and there is plenty of turn-out time. The stable itself is very unique, with stone walls and re-purposed wood stalls. There is a beautifully maintained riding ring, round pen and driving track. Other customers boarding and taking lessons are very friendly and helpful and the atmosphere is very laid back and positive. This stable is continuously improving.
