Ready Set Ride Therapeutic Facility

Big heart owners. Loves people, loves horses and all animals. Summer camp for kids with them is the best place you can imagine. My daughter learned how to ride a horse by herself in one week.

I drove passed today and I really appreciate you guys spending all that money and time to put plywood up on the sides of the barn to keep the animals warm.

Staff is very friendly and knows what they are doing. My daughters instructor was Debbie. She was wonderful and is great with the kids and horses. Volunteers are very attentive to all the horses. My daughter took lessons here last year and loved it! Unfortunately with her allergies she would get headaches after her lesson so we stopped going. My daughter rode Dakota and still to this day talks about him all the time. She always talks about going back for a visit and bringing a treat for Dakota and his friends.

The staff and volunteers are very friendly and really know their stuff. I visited with my son before signing him up for lessons because I wasn't sure how he would be around horses. So they gave us a tour and introduced him to the horses. He loved every moment

Lisa runs a lovely ranch that offers therapeutic riding for children with special needs. It is not a 1:1 medically based therapy or Hippotherapy that is conducted by OT, PT or SP, but it is therapeutic horseback riding - and she's fabulous at what she does. The kids have side walkers for safety, the horses are patient, and the kids have a ball and respond beautifully to the horses and the fun games they play. Couldn't be more impressed.

My daughter has been attending RSR summer camps for over 3 years in row now. This barn, Lisa, and all of her volunteers are absolutely incredible. We first heard of Ready Set Ride through a friend whose son with some special mobility needs took lessons there. Then, at the time, when my almost 6-year-old daughter was begging for horse riding lessons, I searched far and wide in the western suburbs of Chicago for a camp or lessons that accepted younger children. There were NONE - except RSR! I already fell in love with Ready Set Ride’s mission of helping kids and adults with special needs through equine/riding therapy and animal/barn care, but we were equally thrilled to learn they offer week-long summer day camp sessions to neurotypical and physically able children as young as 6 years old! Since their horses are so gentle and specially trained, they are the only barn around to provide a safe and proper riding experience to children 6-8 years old. That first summer in 2022, my daughter simply fell in LOVE — with RSR, Lisa, all the animals, and especially with her favorite horse, Jazz. That bond is special and real. And while this summer camp was an opportunity for her to ride, it also became so much more than that. She learned barn chores, compassionate animal care, and priceless life lessons. She is on the shyer side and was never one to want to try new things without a friend, or me, there with her - however, RSR is truly one place where I could drop her off easily with a smile on her face, but it was never easy to say goodbye each day or at the end of her week. I’m so incredibly grateful for the experiences she’s gotten through RSRs summer fundraising camps — not only are they opening doors for our special needs community, but they are creating compassionate neighbors and future volunteers in the youth they welcome over the summer through camps, and during other festivals. Additionally! I took my Girl Scout Brownie Troop there two years ago for a special event where our group of 8 girls was able to ride horses and learn to care for the animals. It’s always a welcoming, educational, and special experience at Ready Set Ride. We are so grateful for Lisa!
