Baker School of Riding

Laura's farm is wonderful. She does a great job creating a laid-back atmosphere that's enjoyable not only for my horse, but for my entire family. We're so happy with her loving care!

My mare Bella is living an amazing life at Baker’s farm. She is happy, has great food, great horsy friends, and fresh water. The horses all have nice stalls in beautiful barns, but lucky for them they get to live like real horses outside 24/7 unless stormy weather! We have an amazing trainer! And care giver. Laura Baker (Rocha)really knows what she’s doing when it comes to horses! Bella and I have learned so much and grown together. We love our barn family😍

Laura is very professional and knowledgeable. She trains to your abilities and helps you to improve. Laura cares about her students and her horses. I have been riding all my life and Laura has taught me how to correct my seat, and how to apply the aids to get the most from my horse. She takes the time to explain why the horse reacted to the aids and how to get what you want from your horse. I look forward to my lessons with Laura, for the knowledge she shares with me and the fact that she is a genuine sincere person.

About 4 years ago I decided to return to horseback riding, something I did as a teen. As an adult it was important to me to find the right barn. I wanted to take lessons and buy my first horse. I visited several large barns & did not get a warm feeling. When I arrived at Baker Farm, I was greeted by the family and immediately felt welcomed. Laura is a great instructor and has patiently helped me over come fears developed in adult hood. Laura also helped me find my first horse who is everything I could ask for. Lucy is boarded at the farm & I still take lessons. I couldn’t be happier. Everyone at the barn is friendly & fun to be around, which includes all ages. We support & cheer each other on. It is truly my happy place.

We have been to several barns in the area, and Baker is the best. This is not to take anything away from the other farms at all. It is just that,in our pursuit for the best instruction, professionalism, and no drama, Baker School of Riding has delivered all three. And that is no easy feat in this industry. My daughter has been riding there for a good 2 years. Under Laura's supervision and instruction, she is now cantering, showing, and her confidence has gone way up. I am still impressed with the degree of solid foundations that Laura instills, and the degree of knowledge she has. On a side note, that review about the one-eyed overweight horse is laughable. That horse was one of the best on the farm, helped many kids gain skills and confidence, and won several shows. In addition, all lessons we've had have been full length and fully supervised.

I have been working with Laura for three years now. Every summer I am welcomed back by her, the family, and all of the boarders. This barn has a very warm and friendly environment, absolutely no drama, and is accepting of people from all types of riding backgrounds. I recommend this barn to anyone looking to board a horse or take lessons. Laura works hard to make sure all of the horses, riders and boarders have what they need all the time, even down to the last piece of grain for morning feed. I have learned more from Laura than I have from any other instructor in my riding and working careers. Laura is very thorough in lessons - she is able to easily communicate how to work with the horse to better your riding to everyone, including children down to the age of 3. Working here, I have seen improvement in consistent riders and have learned how to improve just by listening to other lessons. The barns are kept very clean: stalls are cleaned as soon as the horses are turned out, brushes and tack are kept neatly in two tack rooms, aisleways are kept clean. Outside of lessons, Laura is a very fun person to be around. She is very kind and can be caught singing Christmas carols that she has altered to match the barn chores. This is by far the best barn I've been to and I feel privileged to work with the Baker family every summer.

My niece had been riding for a while and then she started here and my fiance and I took her to a lesson that was suppose to be an hour long session. Laura played with a different horse while an employee had to go out to pasture to get a horse that looked overweight and had a nasty looking eye. By the time the horse was in to get groomed the employee and Laura were on their phones while my niece was prepping the horse incorrectly and unsafely. When that was all said and done she only rode for 10 minutes in a hour long lesson.
