I had the best time at Northern Arizona Riding Stables! The owner, Mike Donoghue and his son were the sweetest people; so warm, welcoming, and genuinely excited to show me and my friends around their beautiful farm. They were incredibly talkative and personable, and you could really feel how much they love what they do. The farm itself is perfect , and they have the most beautiful miniature Highland cows I’ve ever seen! And a plethora of horse shambles as well as some other animals. They were such a highlight of the visit; so cute and clearly well cared for. Mike and his son were also amazing teachers! None of us had much horseback riding experience, but they were so patient and encouraging that we all got the hang of it in no time. By the end, we felt confident and completely at ease on the horses. Everything about our visit felt personal and heartfelt. If you’re looking for a place that combines stunning animals, genuine hospitality, and a true love for what they do, Northern Arizona Riding Stables is it. I can’t wait to go back!

This place is AMAZING!! Highly recommend horseback riding here! The owner is super super nice and they have such cute animals and the lessons are super good!

I am so grateful for this stable! I came up here for the summer from Phoenix to enjoy the cooler weather in Flagstaff. My friend recommended North Arizona Stables and I am so glad she did. I’ve never had such a great experience with a stable and the ladies who run it. Corrin the barn manager is so attentive to my horses needs and is always giving me updates when I have to go back down to flagstaff for a few days. I also get to pay for turnouts that is super helpful so my horse can get some love when I’m gone. Bess the horse training (and much more) at the barn is so knowledgeable and loves horses. She has taught me so much about riding and how to go back to the crucial basics. The barn hands are so kind and Jayden helps out with exercising horses and clean up around the barn. And she’s one of the most knowledge teens I know. I attended a camp this summer for desensitization for the horses. And it’s the best thing I’ve ever done with my horse. We worked with tarps, stuffed animals, sparkly strings, American flags, and so much more! They also have endless beautiful trails to ride on right from the barn! I highly recommend this stable to anyone looking to come to flagstaff! They love horses and really care about each horse.

This facility is a hidden gem for sure! I'm traveling to Vegas from Oklahoma for a competition and was wishy washy about where to layover. I also run a layover west of Oklahoma City, so I can be...not picky but thorough I suppose. I chose Northern Arizona Riding Stable because of the convenience off the highway as well as the unlimited trail access to the Coconino National Forest. Instead of schooling on my horse before we compete I wanted to just go clear both of our minds. NARS did not disappoint!! The owners and staff are all so friendly and accommodating. It is an extremely laid back and hospitable place and everyone I have met here over our 2 day stay has been fantastic! We love it so much here we are stopping again after the competition.

Bess is amazing!! I have 2 young boys with special needs, they both developed a wonderful relationship with Bess. Safety is a priority and they were both placed in very appropriate horses. The atmosphere is positive and professional, supportive and fun. I highly recommend Bess and Northern Arizona Riding Stable!!

To anyone who knows me, as a veterinarian, my pets are my children. I only stand for the very best care for them, and because of my high standards, I choose to board them at Northern Arizona Riding Stables. This facility is top notch with staff that truly care for the animals and clients. I have boarded there for the past 3 years, and my kids have been so well cared for. I know that if there were to ever be an emergency, they would call me right away and give the best care. Very impressed with their professionalism, friendliness, and high quality animal care.
