Doryman's Oceanfront Inn

The ambience is cute- the building is in a very nice location by the beach. However Newport is a college town so don’t expect to get any sleep Saturday/Sunday. If you’re into bar hopping and being up till dawn this is the place for you. The marble bathrooms are beautiful and so is the decor but you can hear everything from your neighbors, the front desk, and I even heard a guest slamming the microwave door on the floor above that woke me in the morning. The breakfast isn’t really breakfast- just yogurt and fruit- with cereal options and bagels. The employees are all extremely nice and professional. There was a loud group outside at 2am that were living their life but then had a habit of turning on their car emergency alarm (I think for entertainment?) I had to scream out my window for them to stop. I called the front desk and they kindly went to speak to them and they dismissed themselves. Over all not bad but not the best. Definitely a rowdy town- but maybe just not my crowd.

We booked a 2 night stay at the Doryman's In. and it was the worst night sleep of all the hotels I've stayed in. ||According to Expedia, I spent 34 nights in hotels in 2024 with their year end summary. I know my hotels. ||The Doryman's Inn is very charming and the location is excellent, until I realized that being with inches from a huge parking lot would keep me up all night. From drifters, tailgating in the parking lot at 1:45am, to motorcyclists peeling out and revving for attention, to partyers smoking up right below the thin windows in Room 5 (ocean view prices with parking lot vibes), to a maintenance worker banging around at 8am, I will not be returning and highly recommend you look elsewhere, too. ||Did I mention that the power went out, our room was cold due to the cracked skylight window bringing in a draft-- to non-operating elevators for over 24 hours? The "breakfast" isn't even work mentioning. The coffee was so lukewarm and watered down that I just poured it down the sink. Not worth it. Just keep scrolling. Oh well. No management to offer any apologies or updates to limited power, meanwhile there is a high end restaurant downstairs with no complimentary canapés for the inconveniences. Thoroughly disappointed.

This is a" vintage" hotel. We stayed here on New Year's Day. Was quiet. Ben was very comfortable. Staff was great. We asked them to take pictures and boy did they take pictures?😲😀 They have a beautiful rooftop with a 360 view of Newport Beach and Corona del Mar. Would highly recommend this place. We did go on app HOTEL TONIGHT and got it for half price.

Doryman’s is in the heart of Newport Beach, is oceanfront with most rooms facing the ocean. Almost impossible to have a better location. The charming Doryman’s was perfectly clean. The elevator was broken. Many stairs in the hotel. 2 flights to get in and out of the hotel. And a lot of other up and downs. A few stairs in the lobby, stairs to beakfast and a few stairs in your room. Even a large step in and out of the shower. Much of it is just part of the history and charm of the hotel, but another guest mentioned that they would have cancelled if they knew the elevator was out.

Best location in new port beach. This area is always crowded at night. In the morning I went for a jog and got a glimpse beautiful sunrise. The room has a nice view of the beach and wake up with the breeze blowing from the beach.

It's a nice hotel right on the beach. The hotel was a little old style but the service was good. The only problem is the bars nearby have a lot of loud patrons. They were outside all night, every night, and the yelling and laughing woke us up at all hours of the night.
