Great experience with Gambrel! I was looking for fresh coppa muscle from a heritage hog for dry curing at home, and I had called a dozen other shops - including italian butcher shops - none of which knew what I was talking about. Ben from Gambrel knew right away what I wanted. I came into the shop and he cut and trimmed the part while I waited. The delivered muscle was a compact cylinder of uniform thickness perfect for curing. Highly recommend.

I have been going to Gambrel's for over 10 years. It is such a gem. We are so lucky to have a local butcher. Their meat is superb. The selection is vast. It is mostly locally sourced, grass fed, heritage breeds, etc. Their mergeuz sausage is the best I've tasted. Benjamin is friendly and knows many customers by name. If you want recipe ideas, he's happy to share them. He recently started to partner with a local cheese seller, bringing even more options into the shop. This place contributes to making downtown Redwood City feel like a place. Come to Redwood City to try out our local butcher!

The owner was lovely and helpful! We purchased beef jerky, sausages, guanciale and bresaola - all were high-quality items. Particularly enjoyed the house made jerky. Lucky to have such a fabulous neighborhood spot!

We have been coming to Ben and team for several years, and this Christmas he sourced the most beautiful steaks for us we have ever seen. They are an amazing local butcher, and we can’t recommend them enough. If they don’t have what you are looking for, there is a good chance they can source it.

This place is the BEST Ben has the finest Meats/steaks you name it you can think of and the service is always fast and super friendly!!! Time for a BBQ......

Here’s a cleaner, more impactful version of your message that keeps your frustration clear but improves flow and tone: If I could give zero stars, I would. This was hands down the worst customer service I’ve experienced. I called ahead specifically to ask if they could grind beef, and based on that call, I made a special trip just for that service. When I arrived, the same person who answered the phone told me they wouldn’t do it and that it had to be pre-ordered—something he failed to mention during our call. When I pointed that out, he simply turned around and walked away without saying a word. Absolutely disgraceful way to treat a customer. I believe in supporting local businesses, but with service like this, it’s impossible. I’ll definitely be telling others not to waste their time here. If the owner sees this, please reach out—this needs to be addressed.

Ordered the Boar the night before and got there and was a quick pick-up (40 minute drive to get there). I actually asked if he could cut me another pound and was able to cut it up and get me out in 5 minutes. Service was quick and a pleasant experience. Definitely coming back and will always keep this spot in mind if I need exotic meats or cuts.
