End of an era. This place used to be my go to spot for knife sharpening for the better part of a decade. The old white guy was a wizard at sharpening knives and knew the best blade geometry for each knife. Now there some random old guy there now and you need to make sure that you never let him touch your knives. Went in and gave him a chance and he ended up gouging the hell out of my knife and putting a dip near the bottom. I in essence paid him $5 to ruin my knife. Had to go home and reprofile the edge, sharpen, and polish all the damage he did. Thank god my knife is pretty dang durable, but he needs to get a bunch of knives and practice sharpening. Do not let him sharpen your knife if you value your tools.

I had brought my knives here once before and they did an exceptional job. So I decided to bring them again after the sharpness had become a little dull. This time around they completely ruined my knives. I had taken them the whole set of my J.A Henckels knives which were over $400 for the set. Needless to say that I was in complete shock. My knives were returned scratched…chipped… my bread knife was shaved down that it’s no longer a bread knife. I had to buy a replacement for that bread knife along with two others because they were so ruined. So disappointed. Definitely NOT coming back.

My kitchen knives desperately needed sharpening…especially with Thanksgiving right around the corner…I called at 10:00 am to see if they could sharpen my knives. I went right over and the unbelievably nice owners….did them right away. I am sorry it took me so long to have this done. They made it so easy….

Hands down best knife shop in the valley the have a variety of knifes,army surplus and other things super friendly and kind people here

I love this store! There are so few like it left in this Amazon world we live in, and their prices are so reasonable! They've been around forever, and I was so grateful they survived COVID. They have a little bit of everything and provide services like knife and scissor sharpening and they making keys as well - you can't even get keys made at Home Depot anymore - in this age of service-less stores, they now have a machine and you have to do it yourself - which may or may not work. The people at Knife Trader are so fair and honest that when I brought my cuticle scissors in for sharpening, they told me they didn't even need it! They could easily have just done it and charged me and I never would have known the difference. It's a blessing when you get to deal with good, kind, honest people. I highly recommend this neighborhood gem!

I would not recommend this store to a knife conniseuir. I walked in to this store with the intent to sale the knives I have because his sign states he buys, sells and trades and of course because he is the "knife guy". Before I pulled my knives out for him to see he wasn’t interested which was weird to me being that he is in the business of buying selling and trading. I was disappointed with the outcome I was really hoping that this might be a place where a knife enthusiast like myself might find useful. If you have custom knives he is interested though. His wife was actually pleasant and nice.

Ignore all the snowflakes giving bad reviews. I just went in here and it was one of the best collections I've seen in Cali. The owner is an older gentleman and yes he is a bit stiff but if your polite and respectful he will be likewise. I give it 5 stars and hope to return again soon. The knife trader is definitely a rare find!
