Shadow Hills Riding Club

My wife and daughter have been riding there for the last 3 years. Johnny is the owner, and really makes the place inviting. I've been to a few barns before, and the most notable difference here is the calmness of the horses and natural environment. The lesson horses are well mannered, boarding is reasonable, and the property is well maintained. Nestled in a beautiful area, I enjoy relaxing on the patio while they ride. If you are looking for a place to board your horse or take lessons, I recommend trying this place.

We had the pleasure of spending a day filming at the Shadow Hills Riding Club, which was made possible by the wonderful owners and staff. The day was perfect and successful for a variety of reasons, but the bond we formed with the owners made the experience truly memorable. The location is fabulous and we were given direct insight into all the amazing functions and aspects of the club. It is clearly evident just how much they care about animals AND humans... and I am delighted to be able to recommend Shadow Hills Riding Club here. Paul James

This is a hidden gem Shadow hills. Very cool spot. The kids love it. The horses are really well trained.

Great place for retreats and creative therapy sessions/approaches and trying to detach from the hustle and fast-paced city. If u love animals or want to get to know more about them, the quality of care Johnny gives to his animals, ranch, and staff overall will allow you to take that breathe and lower them shoulders so you can truly relax and rethink your (next) steps. Johnny is a gem. I would love to see high schoolers, re-entry participants, ommunity service, and some many others to experience this beautifully surrounded ranch and gain more than what they came with

Johnny Higginson and Shadow Hills Riding Club changed our family’s lives. Always a voice of advocacy for veterans, persons struggling with addiction, and other underserved populations, Johnny and his team of amazing volunteers stepped up when my daughter was rehabilitating from a medical crisis. By surrounding her with love and encouragement and introducing her to the therapeutic connection with horses, Marissa was able to learn to walk, balance, and regain range of motion with her arms while all the time having fun! I have watched Johnny and his horses awaken trust and joy in people who had lost faith in themselves and the world. What happens at Shadow Hills Riding Club is sometimes miraculous and always joyous and fun. I’m a therapist who’s worked around horses for years and I’ve never seen it done better anywhere else. Highly recommended. Thank you, Johnny, your horses, and your team! We’ll always be so grateful.

Absolutely wonderful place, doing great work. Please consider donating and/or volunteering. It’s very rewarding.

The Best of the Best! They are amazing in all that they do. They not only have boarding and private lessons. But, they also have a nonprofit that helps Military, Children with disabilities, People with recovery from addiction. Help make a difference become a volunteer for Shadow Hills Riding Club! It's the most amazing place in LA to spend time at. I just wish I could get out there more often!
