Brackenhollow is not just a top-notch riding program, it is a sanctuary and second home. My two young daughters started riding there nearly three years ago. They look forward to their weekly lessons, to connecting with the friends they have made there, and to camp in the summer. They were complete beginners and got one-on-one instruction and guidance until they were prepared to join group lessons. The instructors are professional, friendly and dedicated-a great combination! I enjoy helping feed and care for the horses a few hours each week. The love and attention the horses (and the riders) receive is phenomenal. Safety and wellbeing is a top priority. Each week I see horses getting a professional massage, individualized diets and supplements. Utmost care is put into scheduling lessons so the horses get a balance of rest and exercise. I highly recommend Brackenhollow to my friends and to you!

My daughter has been riding and participating in horsemanship classes at Brackenhollow for 4+ years. We originally started to help build my daughter’s confidence. It has been a wonderful community for our family. Ashley was steadfast in her reassurance and understanding of how to build a young girl’s self-esteem and encourage my child. I feel so lucky to have found such an amazing teacher and mentor to be a solid presence in her life. My daughter said she would never sit on a horse, never ride a horse, and never jump a horse. She has done all three and continues to ride weekly which has given her a grounding space in such a busy world. Our family has also seen the care and attention given to these animals with each animal’s schedule being tailored to their strengths and needs. My child is expected to care for the horse she is riding that day and has the opportunity to do more barn work. The work ethic and expectation of caring for an animal is such a valuable lesson to learn as a child. I feel so much gratitude for the legacy Joanna and Duschka have continued to offer our community and lucky our family can be a part of it. Thank you!

Our middle-school daughter has been riding two days a week and has been a member of the Pony Club at Brackenhollow Stables for almost two years. We moved here from out of state, and she came with a lot of riding experience, mostly in dressage. From our past experience, equine communities can sometimes feel competitive or harsh. Brackenhollow is nothing like that. The owners and instructors are knowledgeable, approachable, down-to-earth, and focused on safety. That culture carries over to the older riders, who consistently model kindness and good horsemanship for the younger ones. The barn genuinely cares about both its riders and its horses. I’ve seen firsthand how well the horses are cared for, with thoughtful attention to their fitness, health, living conditions, and overall well-being. The only challenge is getting into the lesson program because demand is so high. We were lucky that our daughter’s experience helped us secure a spot. Our family is now on its second generation of Brackenhollow riders. Mother and daughter love the place equally. For decades, we've watched the Fowler-Dunning family care for young riders and horses with professionalism and kindness. I particularly love the fact that riders can work off part of their lessons by taking on chores at the barn. It builds a work ethic that's hard to find anywhere else, and strengthens the bond between rider and horse. A truly special place. I give Brackenhollow my strongest recommendation.

This program is truly amazing! The people involved are incredibly helpful and supportive, creating a fantastic environment for learning to ride. There are ample opportunities to ride and immerse yourself in the horse world, with plenty of horses to suit every student's experience level and goals. The reasonable lesson costs are a breath of fresh air compared to other barns, and there are even chances to participate in horse care. Its convenient location near downtown Redmond is a huge plus for us. My teenage daughter and I both ride at Brackenhollow and absolutely love the community there. We transitioned from another barn where we felt the 'horse management' side of things was missing. At Brackenhollow, we’ve found exactly what we were looking for: real experiences with horsemanship and people who are happy to share their knowledge. A major highlight for my daughter is the Brackenhollow Pony Club, which offers an incredible extra curriculum. It covers everything from unmounted horse care and bandaging to rally prep, providing the deep technical knowledge that is so hard to find elsewhere. Not only have our riding skills improved under the guidance of incredibly kind and knowledgeable instructors, but we’ve also deepened our hands-on experience by working at the barn. The best part is that you get out what you put in - whether you want to be deeply involved in the 'gross and glorious' side of horse care or just enjoy your weekly ride, there’s a place for you. You can be as involved as you want to be. The instructors are amazing, the students are supportive, and it is completely down-to-earth rather than overly competitive while also offering competition experience if desired (my daughter just started showing in jumper events last summer). We are so happy we found our home here!

Brackenhollow has been a great program for my daughter to learn, both riding and horsemanship skills. It is a relaxed program that has the most flexible makeup lesson protocol- which is amazing! It’s rare to find a program with lesson horses that provides opportunities to both learn how to ride and care for horses.
