Alliston Equestrian

My daughter had tried a number of barns in bay area, but Alliston is definitely the best place to learn and practice horse riding. James and Halen are professional, encaustic and hardworking coaches. I regret why I haven't tried this place earlier.

My 8 year old son has been taking riding lessons at Alliston Equestrian for more than a year and we couldn't be happier. Having no prior horse riding experience, we weren't sure what to expect - but from day one the team made us feel very comfortable and welcome. The trainers are wonderful - knowledgeable, supportive and very friendly. We appreciate how the team integrates grooming, tacking-up and information about horse health and welfare into each lesson. My son has shown great progress with his riding and continues to be excited to come to each lesson. In addition to riding lessons, we also did two weeks of summer camp at the barn in 2021. My son had so much fun - it was his favorite camp that year.

The Allistons and all of Alliston Eventing has been a wonderful place for my daughter and her horse. The education is superior, and the team is supportive and a ton of fun! We have been incredibly happy to be at this barn. My daughter and her horse were having some trouble after several years of owning him. James agreed to take over the ride for a few shows (winning all of them). He and Helen managed to improve our horse’s and daughter’s confidence to the point where they have successfully moved up the levels. We are forever grateful to them!

My daughter will be celebrating 10 years of training with James & Helen next year! What a wonderful ride it has been.They both have such a wealth of horsemanship knowledge and active competing experience. If your goal is to compete at a high level or simply learn & improve your riding skills, James & Helen will support you in every way along your own personal journey. Over the years, not only did my daughter become a much better rider, she learned valuable life skills from them and the amazing world of horses. Thank you James & Helen for all you do!

Alliston has helped our daughter improve her riding skills tremendously. All of the instructors there are so kind and patient. It is also a pleasure to see all of the happy dogs greeting us when we come in the stables. I would recommend it to other people interested in riding.

My daughter (and horse) have been students of James and Helen since 2013 and I don't think you could find anyone more professional, knowledgable or hard-working. We bought our horse as a 4yr old and James has trained them both right up through the levels successfully. At times through the years our horse has boarded there and received exceptional care. I can't think of anyone else I would trust more with my horse and my child! If you want to event, this is the barn to be in.

I have been going to James and Helen for the last 5-6 years. They have an excellent training program which has allowed my horse to come up through the ranks. I have seen them work on problem horses,and the results were phenomenal! I have also seen students advance in their abilities thanks to James and Helen's knowledge and experience. The way they treat not only their horses, but especially their client's horses is with the highest level of care possible! This is a friendly, no-drama barn, full of adults and kids alike.
