Pine Hollow Stables

Pine Hollow Stables was a good place for me to land and get back into the horse industry. The staff was friendly and super kind, I also made a point to interact with the staff as I was around a lot and I wanted to get to know who was around my horse. The self care barn was my happy place and I enjoyed the facility. This place is a haven for hunter/jumpers and sporting, the facility does both western and english. The outside arenas have great footings and they have equipment for fences on hand, there is also a pasture where there is cross country style jumps and its incredible! A barrel pattern can be ran but best suited for the larger indoor to get enough distance between the barrels and not be on the fence. Overall the property is awesome and I would come back. I only left due to having my third child and needing to send my horse back to my mom to keep in training while I adjust to a new little in the crew.

Pine Hollow Stables is my happy place. Deana is a kind, generous person and she has assembled an excellent team that takes great care of all the horses. The vibe is friendly, professional, and serene - no drama at all. The facility has many amenities (2 indoor arenas, 2 outdoor arenas, many round pens, mini xc course, trail riding). And it is just beautiful - the sunsets are stunning - all just 15 minutes from downtown. Highly recommend PHS!

I have had a various number of horses (anywhere from 2-5) boarding at Pine Hollow Stables for almost 8 years. I was there through an ownership change, natural disasters (derecho!) and the pandemic. My horses were always excellently cared for by the staff, especially under the newest owner. The hay is excellent quality, they receive loads of turn out and the staff notice small changes that might be of concern. The facility is clean, the arenas are well-maintained, and the people are friendly. There is not another Iowa boarding barn that I would trust more with the care of my horses.

Pine Hollow Stables has been a wonderful home for my senior gelding! Deana is committed to providing him top notch care and communicates with me in a clear and friendly manner. I am extremely pleased with his stall - the rubber matts make it so much easier on him to lay down overnight. I love that the barn works with me to create a husbandry program that works for him and his medical issues. I look forward to every visit as I can walk my horse around the property trails or even sit with the barn cats while he enjoys eating some grass - the property has everything to offer. My horse is living out every horse’s senior dreams at Pine Hollow Stables!

I boared my horse here for a year before i ended up selling him, and I have absolutely zero complaints. This is by far the best barn I have ever had a horse at. I could go multiple weeks without going to the barn without having to worry about how he was being taken care of. I knew his stall was always going to be clean, he would always have water and hay, and that he was getting proper turnout. Deanna always made sure to call me before she made any changes to his turnout so i always knew what was going on! I know this barn cared about the health and well being of my horse, and it showed in the overall personality of him. I seriously can not reccomended this barn enough! If you are looking for a quiet, well taken care of facility, this is the one for you! They gave my horse the best care I could possibly ask for.

Five stars is not enough to describe the amazing care that our horse experiences day by day at Pine Hollow Stables in Altoona. This stable is a 10++++++. We are so fortunately to have found and moved our horse to Pine Hollow Stables over two years ago. The barns are meticulously clean, very secure and organized. Our boy loves the quality food and roomy stalls. On-site management is there to tend to his needs 24/7. Whether he is turned out in the plush pastures or having a bath indoors or out, the awesome treatment he receives at Pine Hollow Stables keeps him happy, healthy and in top performance. This is a super stable and we look forward to many more years of enjoyment there for our precious Romulus!

Love it here. It turned out to be much more than just a stable. My hubby and I love to take a slow walk down the dirt road to the pasture and pond, it's the perfect way to "de-stress" a busy workday. The facilities are clean, the other boarders are friendly, and the owners are great! I've never felt so relaxed at a stable as I do with Pine Hollow. I know my horse is getting excellent care and comparatively, the price beats the other big stables!
