Epona Equine Eventing

I could not recommend Clarice/Epona Eventing enough whether you are looking for beginner or advanced lessons for your child, teenager, or as an adult. In November of 2023 I decided to get back into horseback riding for the first time in many years. I found Clarice through a google search and began lessons with her shortly thereafter. She was able to assess my riding ability right away and could identify where I was at in skill level, and what type of horse I should be riding. It has been 8 months, and I look forward to our lessons each week. She has really helped me develop in my skillset both on and off the saddle and makes every lesson truly an enjoyable experience. Clarice also takes safety very seriously, is extremely patient and kind (something you don't always find in the equine world). Additionally, I am always impressed by her ability to work with children of all ages. She is so attentive and patient, explaining each step, and making sure that they feel safe, and have a great experience.

For the past year I have taken lessons with Clarice. She has been kind and helpful every step of the way. Extremely knowledgeable about all aspects of horse riding and horsemanship. Roughly 4 months ago I decided to take my 7 year old autistic niece to try a lesson with Clarice. Clarice was kind and caring and took extra measures to assure the comfort and safety of my niece. 4 months later she is thriving and looks forward to her lessons each week.

If you are looking for an exceptionally talented riding instructor, I would highly recommend considering Clarice for yourself or your child. She always maintains a high standard of care and conditioning for her horses and the facility she uses. Her tack is well cared for to insure proper fit and function. Her teaching methods and practices are encouraging and helpful. Safety is a top priority with close and consistent supervision. She explains what she is asking for from a student and why. Clarice has a fantastic natural aptitude for communicating her understanding of the dynamics between horse and rider. Her depth of knowledge in the equestrian domain belies her age and friendly, upbeat personality.

Clarice has been providing lessons for my son, who will soon be 4. My son has had some social and motor challenges, and having heard about how some children respond to horses, I thought we’d give it a try. Clarice has been PHENOMENAL with my son. I appreciate that she treats him with respect while still treating him like a person- not at all like a baby. She is firm, clear, and fun! They are always chatting and laughing, and my son LOVES Finley. Clarice and Finley have been magical for my son, and we are so thankful!!

I’ve recently come back to riding as an adult and I have been blown away by my experience with Epona. Clarice will teach you how to ride in a way that strengthens each component until it all comes together. She’ll teach you why every adjustment matters both for yourself as an aspiring equestrian and for the health and well-being of the horse. I’d recommend Epona Equine Eventing from beginner level on up- Clarice knows her stuff. I trust her implicitly and would with my young children on her horses. She’s a kind but firm coach, the kind I wish I had as a kid. I can’t recommend her strongly enough!

Epona Equine has proven to be an excellent riding school for our 9 yr old daughter. The instructor Clarice has an extensive knowledge of horses and a great manner in training. Our daughter has learned at a accelerated rate while building confidence every week. Would recommend for anyone looking to learn or improve their riding.

Clarice Wigsten offers top notch riding instruction tailored to the level and learning style of her students. That same professionalism, intelligence and acuity define her care and training of her horse Faye. High quality tack and related equipment are kept in excellent condition. My eleven-year-old granddaughters look forward to every lesson, ever trying to find more time in their schedules to squeeze in additional time with Clarice. They happily report how much they’ve learned each time and ask what they’ll be doing next so they can research and prepare. Overall, outstanding in every aspect. A+
