We are so thankful for Therapeutic Riding Center of Huntington Beach. Since my daughter started riding, we’ve seen improvements in her core strength and posture, along with a noticeable boost in her confidence. Sophia is always eager to go to her lesson and smiles the whole time she is riding. The staff and volunteers create a nurturing, empowering environment and truly see each child’s potential. We’re very grateful for the positive impact this program has had on our family.

TRC is truly a special place where healing, growth, and joy come together in the most beautiful way. The horses are incredible partners in helping riders improve muscle coordination, build strength, and even enhance cognition. The physical benefits are remarkable, but what makes the program so powerful is the emotional connection that develops between the students and the horses. Through patience and consistency, riders and horses build deep trust with one another. That trust blossoms into confidence, independence, and genuine love. Watching a rider grow stronger — not just physically, but emotionally — is something truly inspiring. The instructors and volunteers are a diverse and exceptional group of individuals. They bring a wide range of experiences, practices, and education to the program, creating an environment that is both professional and deeply compassionate. The beautiful blend of skilled instruction, devoted volunteers, incredible horses, and courageous riders is what makes this program so rewarding, educational, and most of all — fun. It’s a place where progress is celebrated, confidence is built, and hearts are full.

Inhuman use of horse walker, leaving horse unattended walking/ trotting in circles for hours. These people should be ashamed. Torturing a poor innocent animal is deplorable. Receptionist was rude and dismissive when I tried to report.

My son is special needs and we would get flyers from school from this location for horse therapy at a discount rate. However every time I called, I would mention the flyer given to us from the school they would hang up the phone, or put me on hold and not pick up again. I had other people call and the same thing happened. I believe they are committing fraud by advertising their services for a discount rate for kids with special needs. I think it’s a front to keep getting donations from people. Very disappointing.

My advice, seek another form of therapy, there are no qualified therapist here, I paid for 8 sessions and only got about 4 because they cancelled for inclement weather, when I asked for a refund she told me I would get credit for my next session, my son didn’t want anymore session. When I told them that I didn’t want the service she answered "it’s ok we have a waiting list". Then she told me that she has 150 clients basically she didn’t need my business. So to anyone donating to this shady business. Do the math 150 x400 = 60,000 Does she really need donations? Most of the workers are volunteers. You suck Donna

I just would like to thank all the volunteers who made it a very memorable time for my special needs daughter but the way the places run no communication with the clients not going to mention any names but I was told that they have over 150 clients and that my daughter spot can be replaced in 5 minutes if you look at the reviews you'll see it in other reviews stay away check out reviews before you come here 150 clients * 400 is a lot of money majority of workers are volunteers

The Therapeutic Riding Center of Huntington Beach empowers people with physical and developmental challenges to discover their greatest strengths and gain a sense of self-confidence and self-reliance through the special relationship with a horse. It is horseback riding combined with physical therapy. The Therapeutic Riding Center of Huntington Beach serves children and adults of all ages, with a variety of disabilities, including vision and hearing impairments, spina bifida, autism, learning disabilities, muscular dystrophy, spinal meningitis, cerebral palsy, Down syndrome, multiple sclerosis, and developmental delay of all levels.
