Hatha Equus

There are not enough words of love, gratitude and admiration for Hatha Equus. I’m so grateful for their science backed approach to horse training. My young OTTB’s nervous system was so stimulated. She was exhausted and tired of trying to get humans to hear her. Now over a year later we are having a conversation around tacking, the mounting block, even riding and she is thriving! My mare is showing her amazing-ness, her confidence and trust, she just NEEDED to be heard, to have a voice in her experience. She is consenting to accepting a saddle and tack and accepting a rider and she’s learning how to do it all in a way that is healthy for her skeletal and nervous systems. Her body is looking and feeling so strong, healthy and biomechanically sound. Hatha Equus is also so calm and open to any conversation I’ve wanted to have, questions, concerns and as a result I’ve learned a lot and I feel safe and heard as well!

We have long been looking for a place for our horse-loving daughter to learn more about the animals she has been infatuated with since toddlerhood. After trying many barns and programs, as soon as I found Hatha Equus, I knew we’d found our home. Giorgia and Elizabeth’s focus on the human-horse relationship, communication, and connection has been transformational. I’ve watched my daughter grow in confidence, humility, love, and compassionate authority. She is learning how to communicate clearly, manage her own big pre-teen emotions as she see how they impact her horse, and confidently challenge herself with each new skill - both grounded and on horseback. I’m so grateful for all the skills - horse-related and life-related -that she learns every day.

I am so thankful to have found Hatha Equus 4 years ago. My mustang was an owner-relinquish to a rescue before I adopted him and was thought to be blind. Through the care, training and expertise of Elizabeth and Giorgia it became clear he is not blind and was instead shut down. Their expertise in different training modalities and how to use them together was critical in helping him to transition from traumatized and shutdown to willing, friendly, and loving. With their guidance, I learned how to listen to, and communicate with, my horse in a compassionate way that is safe for both of us. I really appreciate that they learn and evolve their training over time as new science is available and work with my vet and ferrier to provide the best possible care to my horse. In my experience, they are such heartfelt trainers who prioritize the horse’s health and happiness.

I have been a student of Hatha Equus and boarder at Wildsong Ranch since February, 2022. To say this has been (and continues to be) a wonderful experience is an understatement. I have a young OTTB mare who, according to multiple veterinarians, was injured in training. Without the knowledgeable, competent and empathetic care/training my mare has received from Elizabeth & Giorgia, I honestly think she would have needed to be retired or relegated to a being a companion horse. They both have a deep understanding of the mental and physical states of the horses in their program and align themselves with the excellent veterinarians, farriers and body workers who provide their services. In my experience, the horses and their well being are always a top priority. My mare is truly happy and thriving in this environment.

Elizabeth and Giorgia are exceptional horse trainers who focus on the well being, as well as, dressage training of horses. No matter what level of training your horse is at when (s)he arrives, whether a young one or upper level, introducing the intrinzen and positive reinforcement, which include other training methodologies, your horse is in excellent hands! Thanks to both of you for my horse’s all around emotional, mental and physical training!!

The Intro to Positive Reinforcement training with Georgia was not only a exciting new way to connect with my horse but was also helpful to my overall horsemanship journey. Georgias knowledge of how to read and connect with my horse, helped me break through barriers I had not only put on my horse but also on myself. It was through this training that I started to understand the spiritual connection I can have with these incredible and intelligent animals. While all at the same keeping safety for me and my horse in mind. Highly recommended no matter where you are in your own horsemanship journey.

It has been just over 9 months since I was fortunate enough to have the opportunity to bring our horse Handsome to Wildsong Ranch with Hatha Equus. As I felt the rising need to get back to a real horse community and take group lessons I found Hatha Equus. I wanted to get support and actually see other people when I got to the barn, even after dark. I had not ridden my horse in months and I would just quietly go to spend time grooming him and grazing him. I didn't want to give up on my partnership and I had been engaging when I could with natural horsemanship instructors for almost two decades but I was feeling very stuck. Sometimes you can manifest something in your life when it is truly important to you. And that is exactly what happened with Hatha Equus. I had been on the wait-list and got the opportunity to be on the training track with Elizabeth. One of her horses Jestoro is now Handsome's best friend. Within a week of moving his confidence and energy presence was different. He has always been a gentle, sensitive soul but he softened even more around the edges. 6 months in and he was even more improved, living with a fantastic herd of horses and getting to know their humans. He has found himself as a horse and it has been great for our partnership. Wildsong is a really cool, really unique place and everyone there are truly fantastic people. But Hatha Equus, Elizabeth especially, is exactly who I needed. She validates all my feelings but gives me confidence that I am capable, she shares in my joy when Handsome and I do something great or hard, and passionately breaks down my mental roadblocks with creativity and fun. Sometimes you see that special connection or really great breakthrough you have with your horse and when something clicks and you look around hoping someone else saw it-Elizabeth did. She always takes into account how you and your horse are that day, that moment, and then creates things for us to do. It has been a true journey for me-mentally, physically, and even metaphysically as I become even more connected to my horse. I have been around horses for 18 years and I am still learning so much all the time or just seeing things with a new perspective. Elizabeth also strives to keep learning and adapting and challenging past beliefs to continue being a great horsewoman and instructor. Being in regular classes has been amazing for us and I truly value all the time there. I now look forward to doing more riding, trail riding, and going back to having fun again just as I had hoped for in the past. Handsome and I love you Hatha Equus!
