Stono River Stable

I have had my horse Charlie here for three years. The barn is beautiful and really lets you escape from the hustle and bustle of the city. Laura the barn manager is very attentive to the horses and gives Charlie all the supplements he needs even though it’s a lot of extra steps during feed time. Everyone at the barn is so kind and relaxed, really makes for a peaceful experience. The footing for riding is good, sometimes it gets a little deep but it goes right back to normal after a nice rain. We have jumps and dressage arena letters too for practice. I’m an Eventer and often compete in Aiken, Laura and some girls at the barn will even come and watch and help me at the events which makes the barn feel like a family. Definitely recommend.

This is hands down the best farm in Charleston to board your horse if you like a lowkey vibe, professional and knowledgeable care, and picturesque views. I may be biased being the barn manager, Laura’s, daughter, but the care and love she provides to each horse is unbeatable. I ALWAYS feel confident that my horse is safe and happy here. It’s a peaceful environment for us and the horses. Jumps, endless trails, and 2 large dirt rings are always available for use. Adults only too, which is a plus. Not a show barn. Must be self sufficient. We do like to play at Mullet Hall and Middleton for their schooling shows every now and then! I’d recommend this farm, especially with Laura’s expertise, time and time again.

A great farm with excellent care and many places to ride and train. The horses glow with dapples galore. Whether you trail ride, event or show there is little bit of it all at this historic farm. 8 years and counting for me. I believe it is the best place in Charleston for adults to ride and enjoy their horses.

Stono River Stable is truly such a special place. I boarded my horse here for 2.5 years and had the best experience. Laura Quarles provides absolutely wonderful care to each and every horse and has such a wealth of knowledge and experience. She cared for my horse as if he were her own and I never had to worry. I have ridden my whole life but was a first time horse owner, and I am so grateful for all the help and support that Laura gave me. I very sadly left due to a relocation, and Laura always offers me an extra horse to ride so that I can still come back to visit and ride with everyone. The community of adult riders there are the most fun, supportive, absolutely wonderful group. The farm is a beautiful, tranquil little haven with the best trails you can find in the area complete with cross country jumps. There are two arenas with jumps (one with lights), very nice paddocks, and the grounds and barn are lovely and well-maintained. Could not recommend this place more!

We have boarded at many facilities across the US and I would say Stono river stables has the best boarding experience. The staff is great and the areas to ride are vast. The barn has a antique southern feel to it and while it isn’t state of the art, serves its purpose of providing reliable shelter for the horses and is a beautiful subject for a picture. The staff takes great care of the horses and we are overly happy with the care we receive. Stone river is truly a full service experience. We have never received such great care in the past. There are two main areas for riding, an enclosed arena and an open area with plenty of jumps. If you wish for more, there is an abundant trail system on the property. Safety is a huge priority at Stono. Laura makes sure that anyone who rides a horse on the property 1. Has a helmet and 2. Knows how to ride a horse. Our horse has stayed in many places and this is the most calm we have ever seen him. Boarding at Stono, we can tell that he has a comfortable experience, which is the most important aspect. The fellow boarders are very welcoming. They look out for each other and each other’s horses and have a great sense of community. It was such a great experience after moving across the country. Stono river stables is my number one stable out of all I’ve boarded at before.

Stono River Stables is a beautiful, peaceful place that’s clearly run with care and intention. Laura is incredibly knowledgeable and one of the most genuinely kind horsewomen I’ve met with many years of experience. She treats every horse like her own and you can feel how much love and hard work goes into this place. You’d be lucky to have this hidden gem as your barn. It’s truly something special. Highly recommend!!!

As someone who has been around horses my entire life and seen all sides of the sport and the people involved, I can say that Stono River Stables is one of the best places I have found. The stable manager is attentive, kind, and caring. Laura ensures your horses and healthy and loved. Stono has the devotion and commitment to the horses that cannot be questioned! The stables are well maintained and have a wonderful rustic nature to them. Stono is the perfect retreat from the bustling streets of downtown and allow us boarders to have some peace and quiet. The paddocks are perfectly sized for each horses needs and allow them to keep each other in company. Stono is the kind of place that anyone should be luck to board their horse and spend their time. I highly recommend!!!
