Highly impressed with my experience at Strain Family Farm. I had been horse shopping for three months all over the East Coast. So when I drove to Strains facility I had zero expectations and was very surprised and satisfied. Cassidy and Mcenzie were a great help! The horse I purchased there is a true gentleman and was as advertised. I went back a second time to look at another horse. I could tell he wouldn’t be a great fit despite that Bill and his son were not pushy. They always answer Fb messages and phone calls promptly. I plan to be back soon well run business.

They get in some very nice horses to choose from, and they honor their excellent return policy. I chose a gorgeous athletic horse that would have been perfect for me in my younger years, as I was still stuck in my younger mind set, and chose what I had wanted in my past. Sadly, at 71 years old, this lovely horse was too much for me when I got him home , and was attempting to ride him alone. So I came back to look at other horses and found a very pretty, and sweet mare who is very responsive, and calm at the same time. I think she will be a safe horse to ride well into my old age, hopefully into my 90s. Bill Strain and the others at the barn were delightful to work with, and they swapped the horses out with no argument at all. Both horses are lovely animals, one was right for me in this stage of my life.

The Strain family is all about offering people a chance to own a solidly trained and healthy horse that matches their riding skills and needs. Their policy to try out the horse to see if it's a good fit for them is simply excellent for both the horse and the rider. I have bought horses online due to my impulsive nature and I learned the hard way that it's not a good idea. In fact, it is often a disaster that plays out for months if not years. The Strains will offer excellent and personalized help as you move through the horse search and possible purchase. You can't go wrong. My next horse will come from the Strains! 🩵

I was in the market for a new horse and found there were many untrustworthy individuals. Then I contacted the Strains. They invited me to come up and ride as many horses as I wanted. They accommodated me when I asked to use my own tack and guided me every step of the way. They were so polite and helped me narrow my decision . Communication was fabulous and provided me with two local vets for a ppe. Buying a new horse is tricky, but they make the process very doable. I recommend anyone shopping for a horse to give them a call.

We went to visit a pony at Strain’s and had a wonderful experience. They were gracious, had a rider ready to show us what the pony was like under saddle, and were not pushy at all. They were helpful every step of the way even though the pony didn’t end up being a fit for us. They are a great resource in the horse purchasing world.

We purchased Pumpkin (the donkey) from Strains Family Farm. They were highly recommended to us from our very good friends. So I guess I did not question them too much before we bought the little guy. He was delivered from CT to MA with lice infestation. I mean he was bad. His coat was all scruffy, he was pretty underweight and did not have much energy. He came with health certificate. But I guess his coat was not looked at … We were very disappointed as we were so excited to receive this sweet little guy and ad him into our family farm. Unfortunately that was not the case. We had to figure out where we will quarantine him away from all the other animals and start the process of getting rid off all the lice. We had to do a vet check on him and clip him and wash him. We called Strains and were looking for little reimbursement for all the expenses we had with him. I was only asking them to cover the vet bill and the groomer that helped with washing him. I mentioned to them that I am not looking for any money for the time I spend on him every night brushing his coat from lice and applying powder to his coat to get rid of the lice. The owner of Strains (Bill) told me that he does not feel that this is their fault. He did not feel responsible for selling us animal in such bad condition. He offered to take the donkey back and get us a new one. I told him that we don’t want to replace him for another one we already spent so much time on him. And our kids got already attached to him. Honestly I don’t understand people that sell other people their problems and don’t expect to take any responsibility for it. We own a farm ourselves and any time we sell any of our animals we do a thorough check on them to make sure their are healthy and free of any parasites. I feel that they did not do their job before selling their donkey. I would not recommend buying from this barn unless you physically go there and inspect the animal yourself or with your own vet. Their vet obviously did not do a good job before this donkey crossed the borders to MA.
