Vision Quest Horseback Rides

Amazing Experience! Joaquín, the owner, was fantastic from start to finish. The horses were wonderful—well cared for and clearly loved their owner, which really shows in how calm and responsive they are. Joaquín did an excellent job matching each rider with a horse based on experience level, making the ride feel safe and enjoyable. Throughout the ride, he shared lots of interesting explanations about the geography and history of the area, which made the experience even more special. Communication was great, especially by text before the ride, and he took plenty of pictures so we could fully enjoy the moment without worrying about photos. Overall, an amazing experience that I would highly recommend to anyone looking for a memorable horseback ride!

Had a 2 hr ride today with Joaquin. He was able to fit us in this week and we are SO SO SO glad! He went above and beyond with local history, as well as cultural history, and we learned a lot of new info. He was very personable and we talked as you would with an old friend. He has an awesome sense of humor and we were 'cutting up' and laughing a ton during the ride. It is VERY obvious that he takes great care of his horses and loves them so much ❤️ He is patient and pays attention to his riders needs also. We very highly recommend booking a ride with Vision Quest(and will definitely do it again if we ever get back in the area)!!!!!

I’m so disappointed by the complete unprofessionalism and inappropriate communication from the owner of this business. I simply sent an inquiry on 3/6 asking, "Hi! Is it possible to book a 1 hour trail ride for 3 people this weekend? :)" and this is the response I got. This is my first time visiting Santa Fe, and what initially struck me was how kind seemingly everyone I interacted with was! NOT this man, and frankly it’s so disappointing that this is the kind of communication that’s normalized from someone running a horsemanship business. To be met with such disrespect and for him to try to gloat about business popularity during spring break… he really couldn’t just answer the question kindly and professionally and inform me they’re fully booked?

My 13 yr old daughter and i had a wonderful 2-hr ride. Neither of us has a lot of horse riding experience, but that was a non-issue. Unlike other trail ride places I’ve gone to, the horses seem extremely well cared for, loved, and well behaved. I’ve been on a ride with a different company where the horses had muzzles so they wouldn’t bite each other and my horse kept trying to cut in front of horses ahead of it. This was completely different - the horses were calm and seemed at peace. The guides gave us info about horse care that I’d never heard before and that demonstrated true love for their equine companions. The way they interacted with the horses exuded love. The scenery was beautiful, and we had a lovely time. I will definitely use Vision Quest again next time we are in the area.

We don't typically provide reviews either positive/negative about establishments we visit or services we purchase. However, this time around we are because of the scammed feeling associated with our transaction with Joaquin. Long story short, we booked a sunset horseback riding activity with Joaquin. We provided $150 deposit via Venmo to secure the date and time, per our understanding of the process. Joaquin had some issues with his truck and canceled our activity last minute. We've been asking for a full refund for days via text and Venmo and he has not honored our refund request. We're unsure if we will get our refund and wanted to share this review with the community as not honoring a refund to us when the business cancels is a big red flag no matter how big or small the operation is. I'm personally saddened by this whole experience as I personally chose to go with Joaquin's business in order to support my community, as a latina with native roots. Now, I regret my decision. This was supposed to be the highlight of our honeymoon - a horseback riding and has become quite the opposite. Think twice before booking. We will happily update this review once we receive our refund. We all work hard for our money. This is not ok. Thanks.

An absolutely AWESOME horseback ride. Joaquin was an amazing guide, wonderful super star horses! So much fun!! Definitely take advantage of this experience if you are in New Mexico and take a gallop!

We had a wonderful experience. Joaquin is an amazing person and he loves all of his animals like they are family. Much appreciation and thanks. Can’t wait to go riding again.
